This is a time when I need a 1/2 star. Saunter up to the window and order a slice or two. It's fast, sure, but it would be nice if the help looked a wee bit cleaner. There's been a change in personnel, so it doesn't taste as good as previous visits. But it gets the job done of you're broke, drunk or in a rush.

Obviously, no one came here looking for great food, but at less for fast and decent service. You will not find that. Except the guy who makes the pizza the rest of the people are, or look alike, undergrad students who prefer to be joking and hooking up instead of working. I order a burger with cheese and no pickles by phone. They said it will be ready in 15-20 min. I came almost 30 min after the call and still have to wait another 30 min. and watch a lot of people ordering and taking their orders before me because they were doing anything but work. And, when I come home there were pickles in the burger. Pretty obvious. Shitty place.

I actually dig their pizza, and their burgers, but after the last couple of experiences with delivery orders I can't recommend them for more than late night drunken pizza needs. Last delivery order I placed (a cheeseburger and fries), didnt show up for an hour, after finally calling them and figuring out they lost the ticket, they told me it would be at least another hour before it could get to me. Experiences before have had drivers not deliver all my food, and take up to 90 minutes (I live right across Carrollton). If you're drunk, If you're in the area, go ahead. But I refuse to pay for a 15 dollar burger and have the experience be like this. I'll walk to TruBurger instead.

I can't believe that Dough Bowl doesn't rate better! Boot pizza is one of my favorite pizzas of all time. It is delicious, New York style with the perfect crust (which really makes or breaks a pizza, in my opinion). They sell by the slice or giant pie and are open until very late. I come here often, both drunk and sober, to get my pizza fix. Aside from the occasional slow customer service experience (what do you expect when all the workers are stoned college students?), this place is awesome.

Boot Pizza while sober: Oh Lord, that's disturbing. Boot Pizza while drunk: Oh Lord, get me aaaalllllll up in that. In this case, Drunk Katie wins. Look, it's 2am and I've been drinking since 8 and haven't eaten since 6. I need something fast and cheap (spent the grocery money on booze again). There is not any thing I want more than a slice of pizza, and this slice is huge. Just greasy enough to soak up some of that alcohol so I don't feel so hungover in the morning (or at least my drunk a$$ keeps thinking that). I could stand to lose some of the Tulane (or younger) kids who hang out here or next door at the Boot, since they look at me all judgmentally as I roll up in my pajamas (yes, in this scenario I have been drinking at home in my pajamas and leave to go get pizza). But whatever, it's their turf, I'll just have to deal with it. I'm glad this is nearby to satisfy my late-night cravings every once in a while. Thanks, Dough Bowl.

Pizza is awesome...usually. It's thin, with a little crunch on the crust, but still chewy when reheated right. I am taking away a star for consistency because sometimes the slices are awesome, but sometimes it is served under/over-reheated, it depends on who is working the window. As far as New York style pizza goes, I think this is the best in the city.

Do not come here if you are expecting a mind blowing, taste bud destoying eating experience. You go here strictly on the value of getting a freshly made, big ole slice of pizza. You have the option of cheese and pepperonni. The slice is quite sizable with the taste being average. It cost about 5 bucks for the big slice of pizza, so they have plenty of places that sell an entire pepperonni pizza for that price. All in all, good service, and okay tasting pizza that is fresh and thin. Come for the nastalgic value of getting a big slice of pizza.

The concept of "Boot pizza" is one of legend for the university students who make The Dough Bowl their last stop of the night out before crashing, but I would not recommend anybody going out of their way for a slice of this pie. I'll admit, as a Tulane student, it's convenience and price (about $3.50 for a large slice) are hard to resist at 3 am on a Saturday, but if you are looking for good quality "drunk food", the bars on Maple St. have better offerings. The pizzas are big, no joke, but there is not much substance to them- very thin crust, only just enough cheese, and rarely the right temperature. The way "boot pizza" works is... you go to the window, order either a slice of cheese or peperoni (your only options if ordering by the slice). Then the guy takes a cold piece of pizza with his bare hands, throws it in the oven for two minutes, then hands it to you (either still cold or kill-your-tastebuds hot) on a greasy paper plate. Sober, it is iffy at best.

This place is right next to The Boot, so it makes money on the hordes of drunk college students that suddenly get the drunken munchies. The pizza here is really greasy, and simply not very good. Some people may swear otherwise. Ask them if they were sober when they had the pizza. The answer will be "No." Then take them back to the Dough Bowl, and they will agree. If you are looking for good pizza in New Orleans, try Slice. It is 1 million times better than this place. Oh, and don't try this place for ANYTHING other than pizza. While the pizza may be edible, a burger that I ordered well done had barely been cooked at all. Gross.

perfect late night snack right before bed. even had it sober a few times and it was still good- granted not as good as when you've had a few drinks but better than the crepe place on the other side of The Boot. this is not a sit down place unless you take your pizza and eat it inside the boot or in the one table they have outside. this is only for their pizza, didn't even know they had other kinds of food till after i graduated.

As a student at Loyola University and an uptown resident, this is where I go when I can't figure out what to eat and I know the pizza is always above average. For $3.25, you get a huge slice of cheese pizza... Cheaper than Slice and better. Don't let the looks of this place deceive you. I love this pizza... It is amazing. It tastes even better if you're drunk. I guess that's why having The Boot right next door makes sense.

Okay, I'm sorry, complain about the quality all you want, ungrateful drunken college students. Be grateful you CAN get pizza when you stumble bleary eyed out of The Boot at 3:45 a.m. You've probably had more enjoyable Dough Bowl slices than you can even count. You were just blacked out at the time, so have no memory of your blissful, bleary eyed enjoyment. But you woke up feeling less terrible than you would have, didn't you? Yeah. That's what I thought. Quit whining. P.S. Even Boot pizza won't stop your hangovers once you turn, oh, about 25-26ish. Just wait. You may be able to drink like you used to, but in your old age, you *definitely* can't recover like you used to. Enjoy these hangover-free years while they last. Waging war on your liver just ain't the same your early 20s are in the past.

Im a little disappointed with the two other reviews. Let me give the percentage breakdown of how this pizza works: 80% - Very very good, Big slices and it gets the job done. 15% - Eh, either I wasn't drunk enough or they really did a poor job 5% - Holy fuck, this slice is life altering Sure, the 5% is probably all while drunk, but the 80% otherwise is a good chance to take. Also, the relatively low cost and the ease of delivery when you are sitting around in the dorm makes this the go-to uptown pizza.

I spent my college years at Tulane and grew up in NY and I've gotta be honest. This is damn good pizza, especially if you rebake it. The crust is thin and crunchy, they spin their own dough, the sauce is ok but they toast the cheese perfectly. Plus the slices are deliciously huge and foldable. Definitely a fan.
